My turn -
Got the car back from the local specialist after an Oil change and some fuel line look-see. Driving home (in 50 degree weather), the temperature gauge went higher than I've ever seen it, right up to the top white mark. It seemed to move higher when idling. When moving, the gauge would go down a bit. Blasting the heater worked a little bit too.
On the freeway in 6th, the temp stayed up there, just below the top white mark. For troubleshooting purposes, I dropped it into 4th to see what it would do. The temperature IMMEDIATELY went DOWN a significant bit, indicating that higher revs lessened the problem.
So whatcha all think? Air pocket? Bad temperature sensor? I recently read in Excellence or Panorama about a technique for clearing air pockets in 944s, by turning a bleed screw on/near the thermostat. Is there a similar 968 procedure?
