Meet Sue my 95 968 Coupe

While not brand new, I got her in Sept 2006, I have just joined this forum and want to introduce Sue so we can participate more fully.



She is beautiful in Guards Red on Tan and had 65,000 miles when I got her. We are at 80k now. Picked her up in Raliegh NC and I live in Toronto Canada so my first drive was 1,000 miles, great chance to get to know each other and what an adventure it was.





There are a few things that I want to rectify to bring her back to her original hotness.....not something one gets to do with the wife ....lol



- front struts - the passenger side has a significant thunk when going over low speed bumps or potholes



- paint - appears that it was partially repainted which was not disclosed on purchase ...however the left side front fender, hood, door and quarter all show

beautiful bright red while the rest of her dulls very quickly a few days after a wash. The debate is between, just wax her for now and see how the finish comes up, redo the clear coat and see if that evens things out a bit or a full repaint which is a significant cost to do properly.



- RUBBER TRIM - the thin rubber piping that runs the sides between the body panels and ground effects has shrunk and dried out and really looks a mess. At the rear where it turns up toward the hatch, it continually pops out.



- Rear Defroster - has not worked since day one....as a daily driver and being in Toronto ....it is a requirement in winter here and I do try to drive her unless they have been salting the roads.

pmagrath, welcome to the 968 Forums and the wonderful world of driving the 968! I will not recommend anything about the paint - probably will end up needing to repaint the entire car.........mine needs it too, but "ol blue" is a "go car" not a "show car"! When I kreplaced the rubber between the body and the side panels it was not too difficult. Get some extra retaining clips, you are sure to break a few taking the panels off. Clean where the rubber molding attaches very good and use some adhesive to attach the new rubber to the panel prior to installing back on the car. I used a lof of clothes ppins to hold it until the adhesive dried. Good luck, and enjoy your 968! Bob Blackwell.

Welcome to the Forums. I really like the tan interior with guards red. Nice!



Check those electrical connections near the rear hatch shocks to be sure that is not the problem with

the rear glass defroster. If you are luck, that's the problem, and it's an easy fix. Best of luck and be

sure to throw some winter tires on that baby for this fall and winter. That back end with get loose in a

hurry over ice and snow without good snow tires.

Welcome to the madness..................I gotta tell ya............You have more guts than I did when I bought my baby this year. I didn't know her service history so soon as I got her trucked here I flat beaded her to the shop for belts and wheel bearings and a complete go through. To just jump her bones and drive her 1000 miles not knowing what might happen...........The thought of paying $5000.00 for a new head.............

Welcome and OH your gonna love the way she hunkers down and powers in and out of a courners. That is unless you just wanna look at her and keep her as a garage queen. The latter has its' good points but what fun you'll miss.....
