low tire pressure
#1

well doh-slap myself, I checked my air pressure tonight and I was at 25 all around.

Doesn't explain my early-cutoff problem obviously but I am thinking that this is a major factor in my poor gas mileage up to this point. Up to 36 now and boy, ride sure is different!

What a dork for not checking it sooner. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Next up, distributor cap and rotor (needed 'em anyways) and then 02 sensor. Hopefully all will be done by weekend after next and I'll be revving so sweetly all the way to 6800 for the 968 Cal fun run.

Question - next DE/autox event, my tires are going to be more skittish, yes? Do you guys ever drop your tire pressure for track/autox events?

During my second DE, experienced drivers suggested that I leave the tire pressure at the normal street pressure - 36. That's what I've been doing, and it seems fine. As far as the low tire pressure being the cause of your poor gas mileage - while it undoubtedly was a contributing factor, you were down so much in mileage that it seems likely something else was (is) going on.
