I just wanted to take a minute to correct some misinformation being bandied about on "less informed" sites.
The correct outside diameter for tires for our car is 25". It is not 25.65". This is true for both the 16 and 17 variations. When choosing a tire size, target 25" outside diameter.
While our speedometers tend to read high, gradually increasing in error as you go up, the solution is not to increase tire diameter. That causes error down low, and also changes your final gear ratio, which costs you acceleration, as well as puts the engine in a different rpm range for a given speed. The transmissions have been carefully geared for the power the engine produces.
