Where to put tool kit and compressor?
#1

I currently just drop the tool kit and the compressor into the left rear wheel well, but that seems pretty crude for a Porsche. Where were these located when the car was sold new?

Hmmmmmmm, if the tool kit is behind the spare with the jack, how do you get the spare tire clamp bolt loose? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Trying to remember if you can reach behind there (without pulling the floor up to check it out).

that is a conundrum i have wondered about as well

the owner's manual shows the jack there clear as a bell on page 83 - there is no other more logical place for the tool kit - everything fits in that space though

Mine's in the wheel well too, and you're right, it does seem "crude" to just have it rattling around in there!

hre's how i know for sure that nothing belongs int eh wheel well

in UK cabs, the battery is in the left rear and the counterbalance is in the right rear, leaving no space for anything there, yet they still came with all of the stuff

everything goes in the spare tire well

The tool kit may fit in there, but my compressor doesn't seem to fit, IIRC.

I saw the same thing in the manual, but I can't get everything to fit with the spare and lay the carpet completely flat. I'll try again this weekend, but I am sure that my compressor just doesn't fit anymore...

I was able to wedge the tool kit into a nice spot beside the spare, instead of behind it, and it looks like it won't bounce around. The compressor...I see no way to fit it in that space at all. I stuck it back in the wheel well, where I am certain it does some shifting and bouncing at times. Must be a better way. Just prepping for a concours, so I'm digging around back there.

I've got all kinda stuff wedged in and around that spare - extra this and that, "Just in case" tools, jumper cables, etc. PITA to get to at times, but that goes with the territory if you want to have everything you need in the 968. Yes, the jack is stuffed in there, wrapped inside a thick towel so as not to make noise. It's not in the spot described in the manual in my car.

I actually wrapped my tool kit in a small bath mat and stuffed it in the passenger wheel well.

The rubber backing keeps things nice and quiet. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

That's a good idea. The passenger wheel well on my car is inaccessible, due to a large metal weight that's located there, mounted on rubber dampers.
