Just bought my first Porsche!
#1

I just bought my first Porsche about a month ago -- a 1992 triple black 968 with 90,000mi on the clock and in as good shape as you could reasonably expect with the mileage and age. I live in Toronto.

I'm loving the car and wanted to join a good forum, since a good forum has been a huge help to me with my other car, a 1990 BMW 535i.

The car is great and I love it. Looking forward to learning lots about it here.

Thanks everyone.

Black wasn't my first choice. My other car is black, so I was hoping for something a little more eye catching for my 'fun' car. The light blue color that was available (don't recall the official name) makes me salivate. I am also all-too-aware of how hard it is to keep a black car looking good. Gino Vanelli said it best: black cars look better in the shade.

But, all that said, when I saw this car I just had to have it. It's in exquisite condition. There are very few of these cars in Canada, so when I saw what great shape it was in, I knew it was not likely I'd find another like it, and I wanted to buy while there was still some summer left. While black wasn't my first choice, it certainly wasn't my last (that'd be white or red -- sorry if that offends anyone ), so I bit the bullet and went for it. No regrets so far!

PorscheDude, you have an E34!? We gotta talk! Check out mine: http://www.moniqueandjay.com/bmw

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. Very glad to be here. When it comes to getting friendly, free advice online, there is no substitute!

Welcome. You came to the right place. Folks here are willing and able to help with anything 968.

Gino Vanelli? Ranks as my weirdest reference of the week (although its early...)

Perfect color combo on a great car BTW - well bought.

The Gino Vanelli reference cracked me up...and everytime I say that, people look at me funny...left over useless information in my brain from many years of DJ-ing throughout the 80's! Great 12" dance mix BTW!

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

Great 535!!
How much boost are you running with the TCD set up?

Are you on bimmerforums?

Here is a quick link to my touring. S52 swap is in the cards for this one.

Sorry for threadjacking again (although tecnically you really can't threadjack a welcome thread can you?), but this thing has been bugging me all day. For those of you who can't remember what Gino Vanelli did, but know it was not good, check this out..

Unfortunately, if you look closer, you'll see that the TCD kit is mentioned under "Wish List" -- that is, I wish I had one.

The Bimmer is sadly dying a slow death due to rust. I was gonna replace it with an E39, but decided instead to keep it for the very rare occasion where I need the baby seat and buy something else for my daily driver. That's how I found myself here!

Welcome

If you are talking about the "sky blue" metallic that color is call Horizon blue, only available in 92-94.5. pretty rare.

Is your coupe an original Canadian car? Easiest way to tell is the speedo in KMPH.

The color I'm talking about is second from the left. Love it.

Mine is a US car, originally registered in MO and imported to Ontario by the previous owner.

The color you're talking about is Riviera Blue. One of the guys in Jersey has a cab this color and I know USCarrera on this list had one of the CSs in the US in this color.

Interesting color for sure.

lol - ok - somebody hasn't been reading - as it says right at the top, you can't post pics in the introduction section - that's why the pics aren't showing up - it's only an introduction section, primarily to let people know you're here, who you are and where you're from - then you move on to the appropriate areas
