individual throttle systems
#81

that's the management system currently on the supercharged car - i'll let you know how that is when i get a chance to play with it

i sure wish they had posted some before and after charts

Well, they may not have before and after charts, but a 15 sec drop at Nordschleife is pretty impressive...

i have no idea what that means - per lap? per race? no other changes to the car? that kind of thing is impressive to be sure, but very open to other factors playing in

depending on how the supercharger project turns out, this may be the direction in take the race car - definitely can't do it on the street though

The nordschleife is the amazing circuit in the German woods. 135 corners and +/- 31 kilometers in lenght.... I drove it twice with lots of fun!

31 km - ok - probably 15 sec per lap then - if that is an average of about 85mph (135kph), that would be about 1.5 sec per lap on most of the tracks here - that's more like what i would expect from such a system

obviously if the average speed of that course is lower, then the gains would also be lower on the tracks here

just to put things in perspective

But you're right, without specifying what other things were done to the car at the same time, it's very hard to quantify the impact of the ITB.

well, with the improvement in times indicated, i'd say that they saw about 10-15hp - seems about the same as a chip

The "Nordschleife" (north loop) of the Nürburgring is 20.832 kilometres long. It's called north loop because there was a south loop too in the early years.

It seems a lot longer to me when I drove it at that time. I thought is was 30 km but 20 is a long way too. For someone with no circuit experience.

Sabine is an amazing driver. She beat a GT by 31 secs in a 911. I wonder if it was a TT; probably just plain talent

I'll have to add, "Drive the Nordschleife" to things to do before I die. It must be an other-worldy experience. But with my awful sense of direction, I'd have to study the videos for months before I'd feel comfortable trying it out...

Also, surely a ZR1 has driven it by now. Seems like that car has the potential to break any existing records for street cars.

I recall from memory that there's about a 1000 feet change in altitude throughout the circuit - adds to the impression...

Nordschleife is quite fast track, so I guess it's quite easy to build up 1-2sec of advance per straight, if the straight is longer one. And there's many long WOT-straights (100% gas open) on nordschleife.

How is this ITB-case going on on the other side of the Atlantic?
There's one car where guy's are building ITB lend from Haybausa. This car is 951 though. If one had enough money, it would be nice to have 3.2ltr N/A with ITB or other special things. Some guys like 3.0 ltr with big turbo, but such thing is difficult to get officially registered here in Finland. Big Bore N/A with motorcandy would be nobrainer, because the official car register people wont see any difference to stock. turbo's they notice, at least usually. I wouldn't be surprised if Pete at RS Barn has something up his sleeve along these lines. Yes, I've often wondered which would be the better of the two scenarios:

1) An NA engine with all the goodies (3.2l, RS Barn's Stage 3 head and chip, performance cams, headers & cat back, ITB, and a tuned nitrous system to fill in the low spots in the low end and mid-range), or

2) A basic rebuild, with the supercharger that's currently under development

the bottom line on ITBs is that it is not likely applicable for a street car, for a number of reasons - great for a race car though, and i know he has plans to work with that - i don't know where it is at this time though

as far as i know, while it has been kicked around, and he and i have talked about it at length, there is no current plan to work with the supercharger in development as it is currently being sold - there are very real reasons for this - if the package changes significantly enough to adequately address those, this may change - no more comment on that should be expected though at this time
