The car was idling poorly (but running perfectly otherwise), dropping to low enough engine speed to stall. It just kept getting worse so I replaced the idle control valve with a new one from Paragon and it helped a lot but now it seems to regularly "hunt" between about 1000 and 800 rpm, sounds/feels rougher at idle, starts rougher (not harder but just rougher sounding at first) and I can smell exhaust fumes at idle (smells rich to me). Any ideas? Car is strong at anything off idle and can take Veyrons with ease. The car has 91,000 km on the odometer (lots more on the car (total is about 250,000 km) but the service is done now in accordance with the new odometer reading, replaced to read 0 when I bought the car) and it did have the 72,000 major service done about 2 months ago. Spark plugs were replaced then. Due soon for the 96,000 km service.

Man, you are fast. Did the Run-Rite thing at about 40,000 km after the Newtown thing in 2006. Replaced the idle control valve just now. What would the MAF sensor contribute to this type of problem? Initially, that was the code that kept coming up when the car idled out and stalled.
