i don't know what is going on with my car. i need to monitor this more closely, but i believe it only happens when the engine is warm.
first symptom: the idle will oscillate between normal and about 4-500 rpms. what happens is it is at a normal idle then it drops down to this range and as soon as it gets down there it will immediately rise back up to normal. when it gets back up to normal it immediately drops back down. repeat.
second symptom: i will have hardly any power when accellerating in the 1.5k to 3k range. it feels like a vacuum leak or loss of compression. this doesn't happen as often as symptom one and it doesn't happen until after symptom one.
third symptom: car will miss. this will usually happen when i am cruising and i let my foot off of the accellerator and let the car roll in gear. this doesn't happen as often as second symptom.
this happened once before and i thought it was a vacuum leak. i got a piece of plastic tube and held one end of the tube up to my ear and the other in various regions of the engine compartment with the engine running and had a roommate rev the car lightly while i listened for the leak. i found nothing doing this test. then the problem just went away and now it is back.
all of my gauges read as normal, nothing looks or sounds out of the ordinary. my plan of action for now is to replace the DME relay, see what happens. if that doesn't do the trick i guess i'll replace the ignition rotor, coil, wires. does anyone know anything else it should be or anything that i can add to my plan of action?
thanks
