I obtained the plastic and metal protective plates shown below, which were missing from my car when I bought it. I mounted the plastic one with no problems, but I can't find the rear mounting point for the metal one, circled in red below. There is a "notch" on the underbody that seems to align with the bolt holes on the plate, but there is no mounting hardware. I assume that this plate should mount to my 1994 968 cab, right? What am I missing?

Tamathumper - Thanks for the info...I now suspect that the posts are gone. There appears to be missing sheet metal in the spots you suggested, and it lines up with the bolt holes in the cover. See photo below...does this look like the correct location on the right side of the car, just outboard from the caster block? Does this look like the right spot? If so, I have some work to do to add a substitute.

Since your car is a 94 it would never have had the metal pan under there, so you will need to add all the pieces it needs to bolt to.

That's a surprise! Did the 94's have the plastic pan that mounts to the batwing (front apron) and crossmember, or was that left off too? I was not able to determine if there was a year-to-year difference using the sources I have. I wonder why Porsche would leave off the metal shield on the 94's? If it was not original to the car, I wonder if I should just leave the metal plate off and offer it up to somebody who is missing theirs rather than attempting a modification?

94 and 95 they left off only the metal one as a cost saving measure, they are effective at reducing engine compartment temps though.

I noticed that the metal plate appears to be shielding the caster blocks as well. I wonder how it affects the engine compartment temps.
I may figure out a way to mount it in there if there is benefit. I paid a fair chunk of change for it and it is in good shape.

Hot 968: I think my PM to you was blocked. If you are still interested, please PM me.
Flash and DaveN: Good ideas, I'm taking a look. Access to those locations is a bit challenging given the location and the stuff around it.
