Help finding tranny part?
#1

This may be a new one for everybody. Suddenly, my car started being really hard to get into 3rd gear. No grinding, just stiff to go in or out. Every other gear was fine. Really no preceding event other than a few weeks ago my clutch hose blew. Limped over to a guy's house using no clutch, so that may have compounded or started the damage. Didn't ever grind it then, but kinda forced it into gear. Had my mechanic take it apart and the synchro and hub need replaced. Hub is crazy expensive, so I was wondering if you guys might have any ideas as to where I could get a better price.

Audi part number listed below was on the PET. 01e311315 was on the part itself.

Serial No. Parts Item Description Quantity Factory Code Factory Order TG Causal Part Package

1 01E311301 Synchr.hub 1.00 01 V 0

I imagine these will be needed, as well, along with a seal kit.

2 012311295F Ring 1.00 01 0

3 012311312D Spring 1.00 01 0

Car: Late 94 968 w/ G50 (G64?) 6 speed.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you tried Sunset?

Going on bit of a stretch here but, I wander if this could be cross referenced to an Audi part, and therefore cheaper?

My mech is checking with the VW dealer. Got a couple feelers out. I'll check Sunset, too - I had thought of them.

Sunset prices:

Porsche part: $688

Audi part: $339

So, I have one of those on the way. I was waiting on 2 other places to call me back, but they just lost the chance to make that sale.

No worries here. I can handle off color jokes and I have my parts on the way.
