Not for me...I see a great reseller's market. Any E.D. product with the name "Flash" in it has got to be a winner.

lol - just saying my name gets that reaction with some people

back on topic:

having fun now - doing all the little stuff - mounting the dry sump reservoir for the supercharger - routing the hoses - writing the instructions - taking pics along the way (no, i won't share those yet)

on that subject, i should be able to show everybody pics in about a week, as all the stuff will have come back from powdercoating and been installed by then - i'm a little bummed i don't get to turn it over this weekend, but i'm also a bit stoked about how it is coming out as a result of all the little delays - each time something takes more time, it gives me a chance to really tweak something - i'm now down to hose clips and such, making sure that everything is routed cleanly, tied down nicely, and looks like the way the factory would have done it

i'm especially proud of the fact that we get to keep the factory fans intact and unaltered - when the cooling system is clean and right, it works very well, and a large reason is the factory design using dual speed dual fans, and the shroud that completely utilizes the entire surface area of the radiator AND even extends over the tanks - but there is no room for any less or interrupted flow, and that was something that we all know would have been an issue in hot weather or under heavy use - there is no way i was going to run the risk of overheating in the los angeles 100+ heat

i am also very pleased with the improved belt tensioning method - it relieves a lot of tension off of the belt, spreads it much more evenly, and relieves the stresses off of the air conditioning compressor ear, which is prone to breaking - i am also pleased that the tensioning kit will cross over to normally aspirated cars as well - we will have that available at the same time we release the supercharger kit

i am still waiting to see the prototype of the front cover, but the model looks great - that will really finish this kit off - it will trim out the engine bay, and also make for easy air cleaner service - i am very happy with the way the airbox is working out, and how nicely the air cleaner sits in the engine bay, and is very accessible for regular cleaning

this kit is turning out to be everything i had hoped for and more - i wanted a complete kit, that had all the features and traits of something factory installed - i think i am getting awfully close

not long now before i can let you see it

after waiting all day yesterday, and most of today, for the sheet metal shop to get to my stuff, i finally gave up and drove up there and camped out until they made the parts - well, this almost worked out

i got a about a 50/50 result - some of the parts worked great - the oil cooler mounting bracket is perfect - the dry sump brackets work well too - however, the stuff for the radiator continues to confound me - they made most of my changes, but failed to incorporate 2 of the changes (one in each part), and consequently the parts didn't fit right

back to the shop i go on monday morning to get what had better be the last set - from there i will roll the dice and take them straight to the powder coater

but i can finish up the oil plumbing and all that, so at least i have a few things i can do this weekend

this is really frustrating because i am so close now

Nice cooler, BUT:

I think, you can never bleed it correctly. You always will have a lot of air inside....

not at all - the bleeding process involves pressurizing the system with air - it's in the instructions from rotrex

this is also the recommended cooler - also spoke to mocal - according to them it can be oriented in any direction

however, it has now been flipped to put the fittings on top, but only because it is a dry sump, and could back drain into the reservoir with them pointed down

time for some more teaser shots

i made a new bracket for the oil cooler to reorient it with the fittings pointed upward - the bracket is made of 3/16" steel, and does not flex - note that it is nicely close to the condenser so as to promote full flow through (a common mistake is to place it too far away, which causes resistance) the hose clamps will also be serviceable from above

here is a shot of the oil cooler as it is mounted now:

here is a preliminary shot of the supercharger oil reservoir and filter - there are no hose clamps on there yet, and there will be 2 clamps on the reservoir when it is really in there - note how conveniently it is located:

tomorrow the last parts will be off to the powder coater - once they come back, i can button this all up and fire it up

all i really have left is to see the prototype of the front cover, fit the airbox to it, and make the charge pipe with the blowoff valve attached

the cover is due any time now - the airbox will be an overnight deal after that

the charge pipe will get made this week

once those are installed, it's off to tuning, and because we are doing something that nobody else does, and will be specific to the 968 and this kit, we are very comfortable with this process, and are sure it will run better than any other kit

we are REALLY close now - i am very confident that this kit will be quite superior to anything else out there, in fit, finish, completeness, operation, and street-able performance

and yes, we are still below $4k

i am now just waiting on the parts to come back from the powder coater - i expect them on friday - then i can assemble what i have and snap some pics

i only have a couple of things to finish though, so this is just about done - i have all but a few small parts to plug into my spreadsheet so i can hit the "total" button and publish the price tag, and tell everybody how far under $4k we are

get your check books and credit cards ready - i am getting REALLY close now

i have had no luck in finding any data on the durability or capability of the flex dampener on the tiptronic - the electronics seem to be manageable, and the transmission itself seems to be up to it, but we cannot determine anything definitive about the flex dampener

anyone considering this for a tiptronic would be doing so at their own risk - we cannot in good conscience recommend this - we would strongly urge anyone thinking of attempting this that at a bare minimum they install a new flex dampener before attempting this

sorry guys - if new data becomes available, we will immediately let everyone know

update on schedule - sorry this is taking so long - the prototype process has been very involved

i am just waiting for the last prototype part to be done, the connectors for the MAF cable to get here, and me to run out the the bender to make up the charge pipe and new upper radiator hose - those should all be completed any day now

then i am scheduling the testing, likely for Mar 13th (possibly the 6th, but i'm not holding my breath)

immediately after the testing, we will be ready to take orders - the first batch will be a VERY short window, as we want to ship April 1 so that people can have it installed for hershey - if you miss the first batch, you will have to wait until enough orders pile up to do a second batch (10 at a time) - we will NOT be stocking these systems - these will be batched only, and based upon prepaid orders - it could be a year, so i would not wait around if you can avoid it

C.A.R.B testing and approval process will begin shortly thereafter, and once it is done, we will issue stickers to those who bought units from the first batch - we anticipate no issues whatsoever

i will have the final numbers either later today or tomorrow, so that those who are ready, and don't feel that they need to wait for the testing, can pre-pay

i should also have more pics for you on saturday

worked on it some more today - getting the last pieces done - finished the full scale mockups of the charge pipe and the upper radiator hose - will have prototypes on monday

only 4 items to plug into the spreadsheet now - didn't get those numbers back today, but hope to have them tomorrow

should be firing this up on wednesday - anticipating first tuning on saturday

One day closer!!!

I'm really eager to see the airbox and finishing parts.
I know you nailed this with all the extra details. I think allot was left on the table in previously released kits.
All of which you have gone the extra mile to incorperate.

it has been amazing at how many small details i have been focused on - i spent a while the other day just putting together the hardware list

i'm playing with stuff right now - taking pics and notes along the way and creating the installation instructions - i figure to have all the stuff put together tomorrow, with the glaring exception of the charge pip, upper radiator hose, the MAF cable, the airbox and the front cover - all of those will be done in the next couple of days

on page 10 now - probably about 1/3 of the way - going well - lots of details and pics to help

You do realize, I'm sure, that the only way to know that your instructions work will be to put aside your knowledge and do an installation simply by following the instructions. Without that "test", DIY instructions generally have one or more non-trivial glitches.
