Gauge reading
#1

What is the norm needle position for the temperature gauge and the oil pressure gauge?
I have had the car only a few days. I have taken it to work twice.
The first day I made my usual observations and didn't notice anything out of the norm. Even sitting and idling waiting for inspection car seemed fine with gauge readings.
Today, the temperature gauge needle seemed to go higher then the previous time driven.
As for oil pressure, at idle around it was around 2 and when driving around 4.
The other day, driving was 5, and idle 2.
Like I said, haven't really had chance to drive daily and make more observations.

Thanks in advance

The oil pressure readings you describe are indeed very normal. The temp needle usually rides right at the first white line (8 o'clock or so) but can and will creep up to the middle (9 o'clock) and will fluctuate as the fans kick on and off. Heavy traffic, high ambient temperatures, A/C use will run even hotter. As long as the needle goes back down when the fans kick on, everything should be working as it should. If it runs hot consistently, then there may be an issue with a partial blockage, stuck thermostat, etc. There are a couple of good threads on running hot on here.

Water temp is usually at 8:00 (first mark) although mine is now at about 8:30 since I replace the water pump and fan temp switch.
My oil is at 4.5-5 when cold with synthetic 5-30 and hot it runs about 2-2.5 at idle and back up to 4.5 when I give it the beans.
