Alternator Belt -Missing Tensioner?
#1

1994 coupe with AC

My alternator belt rectory snapped and as soon as it did the ABS light went on. Is that typical?

When I got under the car to take the belts off I noticed there is no tensioner. The service manual shows a small one(have this one) for the power steering and larger tensioner for the alternator (what I am missing?)

If a tensioner isnt required, can someone direct me to the replacement procedure? If one is neededWhat do you think happened? (All the threads look good and dont see any remnants under the car. Thank you for your help.

The first line of the OP's post says he does.  It's very strange to not have an alternator/AC tensioner, and not see any remnants of one.  My tensioner broke several times on my car, but it never "disappeared".  Could you post a few pictures?

not a real good picture , left tensioner to aircon compressor and alternator.

And on the right tensioner to steering pump .

As far as ABS lights coming on, its likely the sudden drop in voltage that triggered a DTC in the K line because it runs off 0-5v. Start diagnostics on the ABS after tensioners are buttoned up.

I like this pic because it shows a hack we all need to know to overcome a broken missing or snapped tensioner.
