Fog Lamp Fuse melted----Glove box light
#1

OK heres a new one. Some time ago, I noticed that my Fog Lamps were not working. Tried them with the headlamps on or off, didn't matter......didn't work. While checking the fuse, I pulled on it a bit and bingo.....on they came. I thought the contact was just dirty and by moving the fuse that established a new contact and problem solved. On my way to Sebring for the PCA 48 Hours a few weeks ago first thing in the morning, it was really cloudy. Was on the back roads and as the sun came up, I thought I would kill the headlights and turn on the fogs and driving lights for the rest of the trip to be sure I was seen. No Fog Lamps again. I pulled the cover off and when I went to wiggle the fuse I noticed that the damn thing was melted on one side.............even to the point where the prong was corroded and melted also. It was obvious that the fuse box itself right next to the fuse was hot also. So when I got home, I put another fuse in it and the lights worked great. I held the fuse with my fingers for about 5 minutes with the lights on and it didn't get hot. Until I sort this out, I have left the fuse out. Can anybody head me in the right direction to solve this and tell me what may have happened to melt that fuse like that? Also, is it a big deal to take the fuse box out and move the Fog Lamp position down a few spots? there is a blank position there. The old position looks a little wasted.

Lastly, never knew there was a little light in the glovebox. There no bulb in it.On Illustration 905-20 page 1....they show 2 interior bulbs. 1) K12V 10W and another memo M12V 3W. I assume the second one is the glove box bulb? Looks like a smaller version of the interior light with the 2 bullet ends on each side of the light.
