I have a rattle on my car and have now troubleshot it down to the metal belly pan to body stud connections. Here is what I am talking about:
Right now there is a washer and some type of oversized nut on the stud (removed in the picture above), that do not hold the belly pan tight. The threads on the stud are stripped....so the belly pan rattles sometimes. I don't really see a way to get tap on it....how would you suggest fixing it? It's either a M5 or M6 stud.
Any particular repair kit out there? If I could get a hollow stud to fit over it, I could JB Weld it in place and then have threads to bolt the belly pan in place.
The capture nut is item 6 in the image below:

That's what I meant when I wrote tap, using a tap would be very difficult! I don't think it will work, plus I lost my old set years ago....but maybe I could buy a cheap one at autozone for the job. It has to be threaded almost all the way to the body, that's why I'm thinking it won't work.
