Exhaust Hanger Position on aftermarket exhausts
#1

I need your help. I ordered and took delivery of a Tarret Engineering 22mm rear swaybar (Also sold as the Weltmeister Pro bar, I believe). I've attempt to install the bar a couple of times, and have worked with Ira at Tarret to maybe get a custom mount made for the 968 (At my cost) . Apparently, although it's sold to fit the 968, they don't have a record of it ever having been fitted to a 968 (A whole different story). The problem is as follows. The bar has two ways it can be mounted, low, which causes the bar to rest wedged tight into the corner between the exhaust pipe and the exhaust hanger.

High, it want to go through the exhaust hanger, but clears the exhaust.

So the question is, do the various aftermarket exhaust have there hanger in a different location? is there more clearance between the swaybar and the exhaust hanger? Or is the base of the mount turned around? Something like this?

Can someone check there RSBarn, B&B, other exhaust and see if there is more clearance here?

Why not take it to a good muffler shop and have them move the hanger to fit? These shops are very good at fabrication. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I thought about that, but investing $125 into the stock exhaust seemed like a waste. I'd prefer to get something light in there, and be able to mount the Tarret Bar. Shops in NNJ charge top dollar for "minimum" work.

Okay I went the quick and dirty method. After examining the 944 Turbo exhaust and my 968 exhaust, I realized that only the 968 had the mid exhaust hanger. I removed the mid-exhaust hanger, and the bar fit find. It works extremely well, despite the initial hardship. I'll likely invest in a RSBarn exhaust at some point here, without the mid hanger ofcourse.
