Chase Race Exhausts
#1

I was just browsing the web and came across these guys. http://www.chaserace.com/exhaust/exhaust968.html

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this system.

Looks pretty good and doesn't BS about huge gains. Nice weight loss. Any idea on a price? Part of the page is not coming up for me. I guess I could call.

How do you sell an exhaust w/o the buyer hearing it?

Well, I guess if your tracking the car sound doesn't matter but with every other application...

Judging by the chart I would expect a bigger "kick", with this exhaust compared to stock, when the dual resonance comes on line, making the butt-o-meter smile. Other than that the results are primarily weight loss and dB gain (just as important imo) and the power curve is virtually stock.

I would love to see a similar chart for the RS Barn cat-back, both with and without a chip.

What I liked about these guys is that they publish the chart on their website. IMO All websites selling exhaust and claiming HP gains should have a chart, it makes it easier to compare.

But Rhude, you are right about the sound...that is my biggest issue with my stock exhaust, and the biggest thing holding me back frm ordering anything from the US.

My current favorite at this point is the supersprint Catback...and it's sold right here in Holland! I found these guys online and plan to visit their shop soon

Everytime I look on their site they have more 968 stuff...I think they are becoming the dutch answer to RS Barn

Hi Johann,

Also still looking for an alternative (louder) exhaust!? Wish someone has the supersprint exhaust mounted ...curious to the exhaust note! I actually do prefer an system with an cat in place.

BTW, weather permitted I'll see you during Frank's 968 get to gather! I didn't put winter tyres on

I don't have winter tyres either...and my road is like an ice rink

Porsche Performance always has a 968 for sale. Currently they have a 968 TS recreation,it might have a supersprint mounted. I am thinking of buying one in the spring. the price is good

the charts look pretty normal for a free-flow system - you gain a couple of hp up top, only to lose power in the mids

anybody else notice the typical and fairly significant torque loss below from 3.2 to a bit over 4k? (though not as bad as some i've seen)

this happens with every free flow system we have seen so far, except the RS Barn - they don't make any gain claims, but they don't lose power in the rev range where most people spend a lot of time either

to their credit, chaserace did state that it lost power below 4.2k - they also said this was for autocross - in a race car, this probably isn't an issue, but in a street car.......... - in either case, they called it like it is

i think their numbers on weight savings are off and probably better than they think too - i think they might save more weight than they think - the stock exhaust i pulled from my car was 51.5# (they said 40) - looking at their exhaust, i'd guess it was more like 20# (they said 15 but maybe), which would mean about a 30# savings, maybe 35

rhudeboy;

I don't think any one who manufacturers an aftermarket system for the 968 has sound clips. I know B&B has tons of sound clips on their sight, but not one of the 968.

back on topic;

The gains/losses are exactly what i expected from a Canister style muffler on our cars (i almost went with one prior to getting th RS barn unit). This exhaust should give great gains on a Turbo'd 968.
