Engine cowl
#1

So one of the things that I was looking forward to is the Engine Cowl on the 968 when I was looking to buy. But I found it next to imposable to find a car that had this. I know that it was an option in the 93-95 cars and was standard in 92. So my questions is this Does anyone have these parts in good condition that I could buy? Thanks guys!!!

if you are referring to the engine bay black plastic covers, actually, they only came on 92 though early 94 - late 94 and 95 did not have them - as mentioned above, they are available though the dealership - most of us use sunset

your 95 will not have the brackets and studs on which to mount them, but they will rest in place anyway

if you mean the rear black plastic cover, it is held in place mostly with metal clips along its rear edge(don't know what the other years look like). I have the screw studs(just one at each end) but just put rubber screw covers over them.

Right on man. I guess I'll look in to it. Thanks!!

I'm doing the water pump, timing belt, thermostat, and valve cover gasket tomorrow. Should be fun. First time doing that job on a 68.

those studs are on early 94 and earlier cars

there are brackets up front for the other one, and again, not on late 94 on

but as i also said, they will rest in there anyway - there are a few people who have put them into the later cars

I have just bought a front engine cover to find out I am missing the mounting brackets on my 94 Coupe. Can anyone post a picture of what the mounting brackets look like on an early car or can someone provide me with a part number?

You reallly do not need them.

As seen with no hardware.

There are some photos around, I'll see if I can locate them - the "brackets" are basically an "L" upon which the rear part of the cover rests, and the quick-turn lugs lock into. However, they are not needed. If you slip the leading edge of the cover under the edge of the body on which the hood lock is mounted, the rear part will simply fall into place, and no one (but you) will ever know the difference. It will not move when you're driving.

Thanks for the advice! I've installed the cover and it looks quite good and solid. But being a perfectionist I have this deep urge to attach the cover to something :-)

Hi Aaron,

The part number for the cover is: 944 504 143 00 01C this includes the locking bolt, but exlcudes the clamp (999 507 386 09). But I think your '95 will not have the mounting brackets, so you will not need the clamp.

PS: Smokie your engine bay looks great!!

Regards,

Johann
