emergency hood open wire
#1

Hi guys I have replaces all the things on my bumper and belly pan,etc then I realizes I did not have the wire to the hood any where. I found it hanging behind the grill. Does any one know if I can get that wire through the grill to the place I think it goes with out taking the belly pan off again. I think it goes behind the fog light and is taped to the back is that right? Thanks for any help

You could try to reach your arm in the cutout under the air box. But short of that you may have to remove the front "bat wing"

It does go behind the left (drivers) side fog/driving light, you could try fishing some mechanics wire (bailing wire) and try to pull it though.

It might be easier to pull the drivers side inner fender well, You should be able to reach it. and when you get it zip tie it to something so you can reach it

i could never figure out what they intended with that wire - one would think they would want to have it accessible from the outside of the car

You can if you tie it off to the condenser hose, if you reach up between the bat wing and the fender well

just in front of the loovered piece on the fender well.

Thanks so much for the help. I was able to get the wire through the opening between the outside dr side of bumper and the middle. I used a pen light and put it through the light opening in the dr side. Then I looked through the grill in middle and was able to see light. Then it was just a matter of getting a wire through and hooking the emergency release wire and bringing it through. BOY am I glad I don't have to remove the bumper aain.

Can some one tell me where the emergency hood cable goes from the latch?

Mine was fed through the wiring grommet for the hood latch alarm switch and since the P.O. also put the wrong fuse (20 amp vs 15 amp) in #8 and also used the emergency enough to wear through the wire (I have no idea why-maybe while trying to align the hood) and then burned up the hood latch alarm switch and about six inches of the wire before blowing the fuse.

The car came to me with some electrical issues, looks like I'm going to be able to track those down

Anyway I hope this cable goes somewhere else I just haven't found a hole or logical path for it yet.

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure how I found this post. I looked for awhile in body and DYI areas then did some advance search stuff on titles only, would not have looked in drive train.

I guess it would be hard to get to those parts if you couldn't get the hood open.
