Is there a source for a 968 NACA Duct hood? Or do people drill out their own hoods to make the Turbo S look hoods with the NACA Ducts?

Yeah, I did a bunch of reading about it last night. I think I'll forget it. Not really worth the hassle and $$.

If you are lucky enough to find a hood with the ducts in it you'd also probably have to ship it freight which has a much higher chance of getting damaged. I bought one over a year ago and didn't get a dime from the shipper since they called it concelled damage and I didn't open up the package in front of them. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/glare.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Where did it ship from? Who even sells the hoods with the ducts in there?

That was my hood. The previous owner was the owner of an online shop (Speed-6) that sold NACA ducts, and he had them installed in the hood before I bought the car. I liked the look on a subdued color like my car's slate gray, but I agree that they're totally non-functional. I sold it when I came across a used fiberglass hood, which I like because of the weight savings on my soon-to-be mostly-track car.
As far as the shipping damage, I must have spent 12 hours finding a suitable box, some great, high density foam, and then cutting the box to the shape of the hood, and shaping the foam inside the box so that it would hold the hood in place very securely to prevent it from shifting around, and also to protect it from impact. I would have thought it could have been dropped off a 12-story building and survive unscathed. So, when the buyer told me about the damage, I was dumbfounded. What Fedex Freight could possibly have done to create that damage is beyond my comprehension. Maybe they dropped it off a 13-story building.

Andy,
You did a good job packing it, its just a shame how careless the shipping company must have been with it. A body shop looked at it and thinks because its steel it can probably be fixed but they won't know for sure until I can bring in the car and the hood as they wanted to do it with the vehicle so they could check fitmet. Since I got a white 968 it would have needed paint anyway.
Thanks, Dan
