Wow, just over 3 k miles ?! Where has this car been and why was it not driven for 20 years?! Even so, I think the asking price is absurd. I can see someone paying maybe $25 k ...but $ 36 k ?!

Based on the color, it seems that the owner(s) thought this 968 was like a "good (red) wine" and that it would get "better with age", without "uncorking it"!!!

that cars has been for sale since June. IIRC, he was trying to get over 40K for it initially. He bought it for 40K in 2010. Def. a museum piece...and one of a handful with under 5K miles. The Yellow 95 M030 car sold for over 40K last time it went up for sale, and that car also had about 3100 Miles iirc. I actually love this color combo....and the cloth seats are icing on the cake.

Just took another look at the pictures. That is the best looking original coolant tank I have seen on a 968!

Hello, This is just the response I was expecting to get. Some like the color combination and some do not. I like to look at it in the pictures, BUT would not want to keep it up. I would be afraid to even open the door for fear of getting the interior dirty. Must wear a white head cover, white coveralls, white shoe covers, etc.. Maybe move it back and forth in the garage to keep it from getting a speck of dust on it. AND the PRICE!!!! For 36K, The owner does not even include a Car FAx Report, I wonder if the belts have been changed every three years, all rubber parts kept up, fluids changed every two years, etc., etc.? Lots of questions up in the air on this car.

Cheers,

Larry

This is the perennial problem with Queens! I bought my '93 Cab. 3 years ago with only 39,000 kilometres on it and I've just turned over 44. I don't drive it in anything but fine weather, and I would be very hesitant to park it near another car if I can avoid it. I'm not exactly afraid of getting it dirty or racking up the miles, but it's my first "toy" car and it is in such beautiful condition that it takes a psychological effort to do anything but a light cruise now and then. Sad I know, but there you are.

BTW Langley, what do you think of the coolant tank in my car with 44,000 kilometres on it?

VERY nice!

Hate the "yellow" effect on my expansion tank. That is why I will someday buy the Aluminum Expansion Tank.

If you want a "like new" coupe then this guy has one for you. Color is a personal taste. May be a bit pricey in today's market, but given the alternatives (Boxter S, Z4, others?) it's not that far out of the solar system. I'd expect to pay another $4K for belts and tires though before I drove it. Of course I would decrease the value by 50% before I got it into my driveway (been there...).

Langley 968 if you wait long enough it will eventually fail with rather spectacular effects and then you can a nice new one installed. Mine chose to fail when I was standing next to the car and bathed my feet in scaling hot coolant. Good thing I wasn't wearing flip flops.

Not my first choice, but what a magnificent museum piece. I would only tow it to shows...under cover.

I don't think I would show it to anyone That thing is *purple*.

I like that color. Wish I had built a larger garage. And had more disposable income. Could you just imagine, a purple car that no one knows what model it is?
