dumb variocam mistake
#1

Thought we had done so well. The cams were changed and the assembly back in place. Then I reread the manual. The part about being careful about not loosing the check valve in the top of the variocam unit made me sick to my stomach. I remember a shiny ball at the top of the oil bore when I took the J tube off. I also remember being careful not to dislodge the O ring later but remember no shiny ball. Have looked all over the shop floor to no avail. Who has been there? Is it a ball and spring or what am I looking for? Does anyone have an old unit? I would like to buy it to get the checkvalve unless anyone has any other suggestions. Really needed to get the car back on the road by the middle of the week but this looks ugly.

Taking care of your balls is very important, particularly on the Variocam.
