It was an eyopener for me . With the MAF bad over 2500rpm it still goes .

I think it al depends on the actual temp and pressure , but then the next time i start her up all bad again .

Also i fooled.myself a couple of times , because disconecting the battery wil reset the computer .

But now very smooth and fast out of the corners . And no worries flooring it .

I did return the timing of the camshaft to where it was before , and now it still run's fine really hope it wil syay like this , because i was getting fed up with it .

Finally found time to work on the car a bit more .

After the computer and MAF trouble it has been running fine , but i was not a 100% happy .

Today i retimed the cam's , i did this with a friend of mine who owns a engine shop .

It is now spot on and it makes a difference , it was close before , he told me it would not have made a big difference if there was no sc , but with sc is different , and he knows his stuff they run 5sc's on there traktorpull , and are former european champions .

The biggest difference i have noticed is when the car is cold , before it was kind off rough and holding back under 2500rpm , i would be gone after a few minutes of driving .

This is completly gone now , and the car pulls very nice and smooth also when you floor it under 2500rpm .

it needs to be spot that is for sure .

Learned a bit more about sc's ,valve ovelap etc etc and had a lot of coffee

Did you time it "spot on" per the workshop manual procedure, or did you make some kind of adjustment because of the sc?

top dead center , that is the difficult part to get spot on , depressing the inlet valve and adjusting is the easy part .

But it is as per workshop manaul .

this is an issue with supercharging. i've mentioned this one before. unlike naturally aspirated, cam overlap is not necessarily particularly desirable. there is no "extra" power to be had by reducing the overlap, but you can sure lose some snap if you have too much overlap, as the boost is going right into the exhaust. that's why some of these cars show lower boost readings or lower power. you have to use the dial indicators and get the timing just right if you want it all. really you need to degree in the exhaust cam, but that can't be done with the engine in the car. at least the dial indicators are pretty darned accurate.

It is nice to understand how it actually works , he explained the whol overlap thing to me , and that makes it easier .

Also they use calibrated equipment , we did check my gauges and they are oke , but there was a difference (and a dfference in price )

it's truly amazing at how such tiny differences in adjustment can make such large changes in how things run. if you think about it though, it makes sense. any opening of the valve will let things pass in both directions. that's fine for naturally aspirated, when scavenging is helped, and not so bad in turbocharging, which has a closed system anyway, but in supercharging, a little is still good, depending on the exhaust, but if you open them up too far, it's really just letting your boost go out the tailpipe.

glad you got it sorted out though.

Only good news , car has been running perfect .

Did a check on the belt tension , put a new one on there last time , and for some reason the one i got before streched way more then this new one , this is the first time a checked it since i installed it ,did about 2000km with it , just half a turn and ready to go .

might have been too tight the first time. that will create heat, which will stretch the belt
