Desire getting your 968 restored???
#1

http://www11.porsche.com/usa/accessories...s/classic/

Just ship your 968 over to Germany (presume) and you can get your 968 (or that old clunker of a 959 sitting in the corner of your garage) restored to showroom new, complete with documentation!

Would love to know the price, just for sh!ts and giggles... Apparently, you can even "upgrade" things, such as adding 12-way heated seats, LSD, etc.!

Fancy a different interior color? Well, money talks and BS walks...

Dan- send your car over there, give them a blank check, tell them what you want!

Nice that this exists, but i somehow doubt any 4 cyl front engine Porsche's will ever get sent for a full resto....not anytime soon. The only exception i see to that is someone with too much money sending off an extremly rare car like a 924 Carrera GTS ClubSport or a 944 lemans car.

If money were no object, I'd do it in a heartbeat to know that what was returning would basically be a new car off the showroom floor.

But alas, money is a rather large object which I currently do not possess!

I could see doing a 968 Turbo S too...

I met a guy that had this done to his 911E. It cost him 200K. Nuf said

By the way, when you are in the museum you can see their workshop. All the cars in the museum has been through there, and If you have seen the museum cars, you will know they are close to perfection. Much better than they were when they left the factory.

Ooof! Is that Euros or $?! Like it really matters at that point!

Surely the costs to restore a well-cared-for 968 would be significantly less.... !!!!!

Wonder if they would convert a plain jane 968 to a 968 Turbo S?

For better then factory results at a fraction of the price, I'll just send mine to Flash

Cool. The restoration online series of photos of the 1970 prototype 911 brought back some memories. My first Porsche was a '67 911 with the same houndstooth interior as the restoration. That car was not worth restoring ; however that little 2L motor with the two 3 barrel Weber carbs sure did hum.

Yeah, we may all have a screw loose when it comes to 968s and holding them in our hearts and minds on the highest pedestal, but
I doubt anyone here is clinically insane ( even if they had that kind of disposable cash ) to blow $ 200K and end up with a ... 968 !

$ 50 k is my limit.. and that's with $ 35k insurance money if something happens, otherwise I might be willing to spend only $ 15 K to
max 20 k for a full restoration of my car, when it gets old and raggedy .

I have read that when a Porsche qualifies as a Classic, they are more likely to reissue certain rare parts. Prices might be astronomical though.

A rear view mirror for my 356B cost met 600 Euro Let's hope 968 parts don't get to that level.

That being said, a fellow Dutch 968 owner had his wing mirros stolen and the quote is 1500 to have them replaced. Plastic and mirror....that's friggin insane money!!
