Not your grandfather's Vette anymore
#1

I must really fight my life-long anti-Vette sentiments when looking at the 2015 model..especially in this color. To make it worse, the also life-long anti-convertible sentiments only compounds the problem.. the car is simply magnificent, even in cab form ! Oh man, I hesitate to go and look at one in person, and ( heaven forbid ) dare to test drive it, because with 600+ ponies and the looks of this super-car at what I think is an incredibly reasonable price ( comparatively speaking..) I may end up with it.

Been there done that with a 2013 and you are correct, it isn't Grand-pop's Vette. This latest version is a very good looking car, as good as a Ferrari. The other one that I am currently enamored with is the new Jag F-Type.

I could see myself owning a Vette. The one I drove had more horsepower than it needs. Handling was very good, not brilliant. I'm guessing that a little bit of suspension work would easily take the handling up a notch. My real gripe is that this car, like a lot of European "Super Cars" has more power than most drivers can every hope to use effectively or safely and so there is a need for all manner of electronic handling aids to keep the drivers from killing themselves.

DS, when you go drive this car, and we all know you will, leave your checkbook, credit cards and the Porsche's pink slips at home.

Great looking car until you look at the rear. Someone ran out of money, looked over at the Camaro, and slapped it on the rear with a few tweeks.

why, oh why, did they feel the need to have 4 identical exhaust tips crammed next to eachother?!?!? Why not throw 8 there, or better yet 16!!!

Plus there is the whole reliability and durability of all the GM parts that went into making that car.

oh yeah - hell, I did not see the rear ! horrible. just lost interest ( not in the test drive, but in buying anything with a one-fits-all looking GM tail )

The excessive garishness is only matched by the lack of taste.

It needs flames (the painted ones).

I found myself in front of a Jag F-Type on the way home from work today. First one I've seen in person. I let him pass me so I could see the rest of the car. Sure is purdy! (Though it still ain't no E-Type, arguably the best looking car ever built - or at least in the top 5).

The Jag F type is very nice, and the new coupe looks phenomenal . ( IMO ). My friend test drove the cab version ( tne R type ) a few months ago and he was not at all impressed with it - he said except for the acceleration which was mind-blowing ( again, he drove the R model ) the catr was just " so so " overall ; the line of sight was poor, the cabin ergonomics sucked, the car felt too heavy on turns, yada, yada.

How is the ignition lock in the 2015 vette. or any or the other mirad of recalls and problems that we have all heard of? I love the look but i think i will wait 5 years to see if GM goes belly up after paying for all the problems

We wrapped one for a giveaway and I have to say it was a nice car. GM V8's are great engines and the company may have some problems (like Porsche doesn't) but I don't think it is a deal killer.

They just brought the car back in to unwrap for the winner and now it has 40k miles on it. Jeese.
