Chip question
#1

Is there anyone out there who lives in a cold area, who drives in cold weather and who has an aftermarket chip? My car, after a ton of money spent, still misses sometimes. It now seems as thought it is cold weather related. Until it warms up it misses a bit - sometimes more than a bit. Is OK when it is warmed up (ie at least 10 km of driving). The chip is an RS Barn Stage 2. The plug wires were replaced and that took away the "regular" missing but not the starting up missing. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm thinking something else ignition related, perhaps the hall sensor? Or perhaps the DME Temp Sensor. The Temp sensor would be an easy test, it's only a $8 part oddly enough.

i know everybody tends to do the "post hoc ergo propter hoc" things and say "it didn't do that before so it must be this" and frequently point at a chip - the problem with that is that chips are constant - if it's a bad chip it's a bad chip - if it's a good chip it's a good chip - it does the same thing all the time - they don't have intermittent problems, and they don't have that many things going on that could lead to one

what is likely amiss is a temp sensor, a dirty MAF, cold start valve, vacuum leak, condensation in the distributor cap, bad connection, or something along those lines

i remember when i lived in a very cold climate for a bit and the spark plugs would be loose when it was cold - then when it warmed up, they would seat - made me crazy tracking it down

i'd look at those things

I'm up in Canada, also running the RS Barn stage 2 chip with no temperature issues. I also agree that it's likely something else

I live in western Michigan, My car also has the RS Barn stage 2 chip. I've never had an issue with missing although I don't drive it in the dead of winter, below zero.
