I used the liquid clay cause I thought "what the heck lets give this a try!" I know what you mean about it taking a lot to get it buffed out. with the liquid clay it seems to take a LOT of buffing to the the tar and other stuff off. I would say that it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get the car the way I wanted it. Then I had to Polish 2x then wax 2x then shampoo the interior!! It took me about 15 hours to get everything the way I wanted it. Then I got caught in a rain/hail storm on the way to the show I was going to!! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Funny that you should ask Larry. I was considering asking myself before I tried it. Ah what the hell right? Pricey - $16 for the bottle of magic stuff and a micro rag (like I don't already have 50 of those) and a little sponge-like applicator. Did this in the garage after a good clean and dry outside, so the sun was not on it and the car was not hot.
Stuff was different. Went on wet like a liquid, and I heard this interesting little scrubbing with the applicator (kind of like a clay bar first time on a car). Let it sit for well 5 - 10 minutes (the recommendation on the bottle is 3 to 5). Came back and wiped it off. Again, a little different. Easy as pie to wipe off the excess, but there was a lot of buffing to get rid of the swirlies.
At the end it was a toss on how much rubbing was required (less on and more buff with the Ice stuff over carnuba liquid). Shine was good, and as advertised I did NOT get any annoying white wax on either the cab top or the bumperettes, or whatever we call those things. I used it on all the surfaces, which was nice. Typically I have to go back with vinyl cleaner to clean tha overspread off. This saved me some time, though not too much.
Results were good. Very clean, as shiny as carnuba. I have tried lots of different magic formulaes over the years and I always went right back to carnuba paste or liquid (my current fav is Barry's cleaner wax).
Only caveat is that I recently cleaned, dried, and machine applied and buffed carnuba, and the car hasn't seen a lot of action since then, so I had a good base to start.
I am going to try it a few more times though, which I have never done. I remember a green bottle of 2000 something or other. Used it once and tossed it. Ice might make it a few more weeks in the garage.
