Cab windsheild interior moulding
#1

Sun and time has warped this. Piece is in good condition. Can this be reshaped with heat or something?

seen this a lot - not an easy thing to do - it bent once, it can bend again - the problem is to do it so it looks right, you may have to make a jig - after you remove it, and once you get it soft enough to reshape, how do you hold it in place so it cools in the right shape?

Mine was just like this (92 cab with 29k miles) I removed the A pillar cover and heated it with a heat gun and reshaped it against a smooth straight piece of wood. The trick is to loosen the cover that runs across the top of the windshield to replace the A pillar cover without bending it.

Take care not to fully smooth (ruin) the textured finish.

My 968 cab came from the Phoenix area and both A pillars and the over windshield piece were really warped.

I was able to get the side pillar pieces from a yard in Canada and got SEM black colorant to bring them back to brand new. If you can't straighten, a task that I felt would never get them to look straight, you might try to do what I did.

Good luck

Brian

I see them on Ebay now and then, but seem to get outbid. I will give this a shot and see what comes of it. I'm going to do a little online research to see if others know how to manipulate this type of plastic. We also have a plastics art lab at the university of memphis (where I teach part time). I plan on checking out if the instructor has any input. I'll let y'all know.

Looks Like I just created a duplicate post on this - looking for anyone who has managed to do the heating procedure and has any tips.
