I finally pulled the rear shift linkage off my 92. the car wouldnt go past 2nd gear, and the shift lever was very sloppy. like stirring soup. the lever that slides onto tranny was cracked to the point that it broke just pulling it off after loosening set screw. i installed new linkage and adjusted and it shifts beautifully. i thought for sure that something was very wrong inside for this thick piece to break. I just wanted people to know ,and maybe add it to things to check list. or for something to look at if your car doesnt shift properly. has this ever happened to anyone else? Thanx,Matt

Never heard of breakage on that particular part.

I have seen the circlips come undone in the linkage and cause problems-I would check everything out really well, remove the linkage (it's not that hard if you remove the muffler heat shield) and give it a good going over.

Everything is new now. The plastic was all deteriorated.

I had the circlip slide out of its groove 2 days after installing the the new linkage assembly. before reinstalling i put 2 small spot welds close to clip to keep this from happening again. Thanx, Matt
