Bosch Hammer at Hershey
#1

Does anyone coming to Hershey have access to a Bosch Hammer? I would love to have my airbag light turned off. I am willing to pay of course as long as its reasonable. Thanks in advance

I have an equivalent unit that can be used to turn off an airbag light - it did that with mine quite nicely. I'll see if I can locate it, and if so, I'll bring it to Hershey. (I'm pretty sure I know where it is...)

RS Barn will doing a technical seminar at Don's house after swap meet. We are bringing Bosch Hammer as part of the seminar to show capability and need for "Old Tools" There are other products for airbag light-plus resistor if needed

or you can try my gadget either tomorrow afternoon or sometime Saturday while we're all at the swap meet. There should be plenty of time, which there might not be once the group gets to Don's.

It has cleared codes - <i>BUT I CAN'T FIND IT.</i> Am I ever bummed. I "knew" exactly where it was, what it was in, but nothing is there - not the bag, and so not the device. I always wanted to learn magic and make things disappear, but this wasn't in the plan.

Jim sorry to hear that you've lost it. You'll never find a cheaper solution anymore.

Derek,

Hopefully you found Jim...we both had our respective units and laptops with us...I ended up not going to the tech session and didn't get you PM until arriving home. I'm happy to do this for you so perhaps we can meet up sometime. I think some of us are going to plan a fun run/BBQ thing around here in Northern VA or Annapolis, MD, so maybe you can come down and join us - OR - if you just feel like a road trip, come on down! Again, sorry we didn't meet up.

- Darryl

Yes code is gone . Thanks again Pete now I don't have to see that big red light anymore. I just wanted to say I had a great time at my first 968 gathering and everyone I met was as nice and helpful as could be. Thanks again

What a fantastic day! I found most of what I needed plus more. It was nice to put a face to names after all this time. It was great to finally meet Smokie in person. I hope you did well today Pat.

Sorry to have missed you, Derek.

Unknown, I did find my device, it was in the last placed I looked.

This afternoon I ran it. At first, it found a code, I did a reset, but the light did not go off. Tried again, this time no code, but the light still wouldn't go off. Pulled the glove box, pressed on the airbag connectors behind the passenger airbag, ran the "mini-hammer" again, still no code, and the light stayed on. Walked away from the car, then went back and removed the device, reinstalled the glove box, and figured I was stuck with the light. Put the tools away, loaded the car, said goodbyes, and started the car to leave - and, lo and behold, NO AIRBAG LIGHT! Drove the 3+ hours home, still no light. I'm going to get my New Jersey inspection done on Monday, to minimize the risk of the light coming back, which would cause me to fail inspection.

Sorry to hear Jim.
So I understand the big ! is turned on. But is the light with the text Airbag also on? Are they both turned on?
because this is interesting. With only the ! on there is another fault from maybe another system.

No, no light is on - the instrument panel is clear, delightful - and, as before, with great thanks to you.

The successful end, for me, to this chapter in the story is that I passed NJ state inspection today. Whew, don't have to go through that again for 2 years. This also was the first time that my modified third brake light went through inspection so that's now "officially" OK.
