18" 997 Carrera III wheels and Yokohama AD08 Tires
#1

I can get a decent deal on a set of 18" 997 Carrera III wheels and I think these offsets should work from what I have read around here.

Front: 997.362.136.00 18x8 ET 57 offset

Rear: 997.362.140.01 18x10 ET 58 offset

Looking at going with the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 tires in these sizes.

Front: 255/35R18 26lbs

Rear: 285/30R18 27lbs

Here is the wheel fitment chart with the above numbers punched in. Do you guys think this will work? Any opinions on the setup? I can't find the weight for the 997 Carrera III's anywhere so if you know, please post.

I thought 245 was as wide as you can go on an 8 inch wheel.

It looks like you are right. I was using the spreadsheet to see which sizes had the closest diameters. With the new numbers, the diameters are not as close, does this matter much?

Front: 245/40R18 26lbs

Rear: 285/30R18 27lbs

If I drop down the size in the rear it gets a little closer, but I would prefer to have all the traction I can get. Plus the 265s weigh the same as the 285s.

While we are at it, here are the specs when going even wider out back. Additional 2lbs per wheel. Will it fit? Overkill?

Rear: 295/30R18 29lbs

offsets will be fine

the 255 is too much for the 8, so you did well in dropping that

the magic diameter is 25 so.........

i would run a 235-40 on the front and maybe a 295-30 on the rear - they weren't making a 295 when i ordered my 285s, and my offset wouldn't allow it anyway - the extra 5mm you have might buy you enough room, but you won't know for sure until you fit them - the weight is a killer on the 295, but you have the SC on there, so not so much of a problem - you would be ok with a 285 as well though, and then you know for sure it will fit

Thanks Bob. I am leaning towards the 285 after reading this article.

I Would go with the 295 if weight was the same, but it sounds like the extra 10mm won't really do too much for me anyways.

yeah - that article is somewhat simplistic, but essentially correct - i have actually considered going smaller on the rears, and running a 9" rim all around, so as to have the same size tire all around - i just can't seem to get past the aesthetics though

I am confused on the offset up front on these now. Is it 57 or 37? Fronts of rims contain raised factory lettering indicating "8" and "57" near valve stem. Rear of spokes factory stamped as follows:"10Jx18H2-ET37"

Found out more information. Some of these sets had the incorrect offset and width stamped rear of spokes. These are in fact 57mm offset as stamped correctly near the valve stem.

ruh roh - ET is the number, and if it's 37, you would be in big trouble - definitely want to verify that before buying them

It was verified on another forum that the rear spoke stamp is a known mistake by BBS. They were measured to be 57mm offset, which is what is stamped near the valve stem.

Drove out to Napa and picked up the wheels. Was able to get them for $800 and they look brand new. Came off a 2005 911 with 20,000 miles on it that has never seen a rainy day. I had to change that right quick so I promptly installed them back in rainy San Francisco. They came with tires that are usable till I get the Yokohamas from tirerack.com. Sorry the picture quality sucks, just a phone camera. I will break out the big boy camera when the sun comes out.
