Folks,
I bought a 968 in October that had the airbag light triggered. I bought a durametric, cleared the faults and the airbag was fine for the next month.
After that, I removed the cluster (to replace bulbs), dash (to repaint it with SEM) and replaced the steering wheel and airbag (they were grey and I wanted black). About 3 months went by between when I took everything apart and when I restarted the car.
The airbag light came on and I reset it, but it has continued to come on. I then reinstalled the original driver airbag to see if the replacement was bad, and still getting the warning light triggered. Using the Durametric it is coming up with codes 22 and 68, but Durametric says it doesn't know what these codes mean. On Clarks garage, it has a list of codes and says Code 22 is for a passenger ground leak/pill circuit, but there is no Code 68 (codes end at 32 or something).
Lastly, with the replacement steering wheel I noticed the horn isn't working, so wondering if a wiring connection may be loose.
So here are the questions:
-does it make sense that disconnecting the airbags and reconnecting would cause a system to throw new codes?
-Are the fault codes for a 968 the same as a 944 (and if so, where is code 68)?
-Can the horn be a symptom of something else that might cause the airbag problem?
-Can anyone confirm for me what codes 22 and 68 are and what I should do to try and fix them?
THanks in advance!!
