My sincerest condolences on the loss of your car. I would just be heart broken. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I have been through many wrecks in my life but losing my 968 would be hard and a turbo no less! The most important thing is that you are okay and still alive. Hope you don't mind a few words of encouragement from across the pond?



I know words don't really help at the moment but heres a few that may just make you feel that little bit better.



You are both ok which is the main thing so the car has done its final service to you



Secondly, try not to worry about it, it is just a piece of metal at the end of the day as all our cars are, regardless of how much we all love them.



There are more important things in life like your health family and friends, of which you have many on here i am sure.



The second thing is that financely it is not really as bad as all that either, if you are insured then great, if not then part prices are rising all the time for our cars as they get older so breaking what is still servicable will ease the pain quite significantly I am sure

The first question I ask when anyone has any kind of accident is ARE YOU OK? That's the MOST important thing - and you are OK, so let's all say thanks for that.



As for the car - I followed your "build" so I can imagine what you're feeling. I've gone through a lot with my 968 - not approaching what you've done, but nevertheless quite a bit. When I backed into a wall a while ago, my wife was more upset than I was. I said then - but she didn't, and doesn't believe me - "at the end of the day, it's a car."



So, the bottom line - you're OK, and it's a car.



That leaves the lesson - which all us of, particularly those of us that do DE events - will wait patiently for until you're able to talk about it.



Much appreciation for the fact that you so quickly starting sharing your pain.

That's the spirit!



968's are very special cars, and from reading this thread,

and many others, it seems that we all have similar feelings about

the 968's.

Why else would we tolerate the many flaws? Passion.

(And a dash of insanity perhaps <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )



I realize that my 968 is just a car, but at the same time, I admit that

I see it as more than that. I used to have 944 as a daily driver, and it was

my only car. Luckily, I never crashed it, but lost the valves to a timing belt

break. Realizing at the time that I could not afford to have the work

done gave me a sinking feeling like no other. Even if I had the money,

the repair bill would be about as much as the car was worth. I had AAA tow it to

my house, back it into my garage, and I turned out the light. That

was a day I had no clue what to do. It was my dad who said, "You can do it." Over the next month, with a rebuilt head, and the help of a mechanic, I rebuilt the top end. I probably borrowed about $1,000 worth of tools. Saved my car and about $3,000 in the process. And all of my colleagues got to know where I live, because they all gave me rides to and from work.



When you catch your breath, I hope that your passion will lead you in

a positive direction. Maybe another 968? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Wow.. So sorry for your loss. If I was in your shoes, I would consider that I was out having fun and using the car as it was intended - racing.



My car is a daily driver and I'd be very upset if I was in an accident with an inexperienced driver and/or hit by a 6K-lb SUV!



Also, most importantly, everyone came out of it o-k. At the end of the day that's all that really matters...
