Bi-Polar is right!

The one thing I would add to the thread on my post was a private message I received on the issue that may be of help to you:
--------
"My drainage holes in front of the firewall and above the fenders got clogged (very easy and very common). When that happens and when it rains hard, water will fill up and flow into the vent/fan blower. Then water will soak carpet and since the power amp is under the front passenger seat, it can short the amp causing that issue. My amp was shorted out when I bought the car and I'm sure it was because of water.
Open the hood and put hose on windsheild and see if fenderwells fill up. If drains are clogged, a simple hanger will unclogged them and do that regularly. Good luck and let me know if that was it."

Is your passenger carpet soggy? I tried the above but my drainage was working fine...and yet with the rain we've been having here in Seattle I had noticed that my passenger floor - side toward the door - was water logged (under the mat). Have not figured out the source of the water getting in - or if it was shorting anything.
