CR 1 Radio Question
#1

Just looked at a coupe with the Porsche CR1 AM/FM Cassette and 10 CD changer mounted in the hatch. The owner pulled the changer and the wiring, and the radio obviously does not work, and he lost the changer. I prefer to keep the stock system with any improved upgrades. Any ideas or thoughts on replacing or repairing this unit to maintain near-stock or upgrading entirely to a newer system? Thanks.

THe CR-1 should work with out the changer, just need the code and power <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> . If it really is bad and you want to keep it stock, try e-bay.

I have a couple of them floating around that worked when they came out. I may have hacked up the wiring harnesses though. I also have a changer somewhere around her as well. I'll try and take a look in the garage when it warms up a little.

The original wiring has Becker connectors will also work with the Becker radios used in the Boxster and other newer Porsches. I have both the CR-1 with the security code and a 10 CD changer available, but if the previous owner ripped out the wiring, try contacting Becker in the US for replacement harnesses.

When I bought my 968, it had a working CR-1 in it. I drove it across country and it worked like a charm...then I cut the power and the code cards that came with the car give the wrong code..So I have a CR-1 and no code. I haven't tried the Porsche dealer yet. There's not one nearby.

I had a CR1 and changer I just sold to a buddy. If you want to email me I can ask if he wants to get rid of it. I have the code, booklet, everything.

Sent you a PM. Have an interest in the CR1 and changer or changer with wiring harness. Have 95 coupe, 6spd.

If anyone wants to clean out their spare parts and has a decent CDC-1 Changer, I could use one for show purposes... doesn't have to function, but that would be a plus...

PM me with what you have and how much...
