Another close call..
#1

Went for a quick grocery shopping trip this morning and on the way back, in extremely light highway traffic, I thought I would let the car "breathe" a bit . I was about a mile from my exit so I opened it up for that last segment.. At the end of a sweeping blind curve just before the exit, as I was going about 130 mph, I passed by a CHP car parked on the shoulder. His lights were on but fortunately, not for me - he had already stopped some poor basta*d who was probably going no more than 80, and was handing out a ticket. He did look up at me going by but since he was already out of the car and I was less that a Q-mile from the exit at the time, I'm sure he thought .." F*ck, there goes my chance to get promoted to chief " . But there was a very loud sigh of relief heard in one 968 cabin today... :-)

Or a donation to a worthy cause ... like your local "Burn Fund" (probably through the local Fire Dept..)

ds968, I can still feel your angina attack all the way up here. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> These near misses usually keep you in check for at least the next few days <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Passing a CHP doing 130? I'd have had to do laundry when I got home!

Dan, if this were a public forum then I'd recommend that you to delete your post! Close call...

wait, did I write 130 MPH ? that was a typo , I meant to write 13 MPH and I was concerned I would be stopped for driving too slow, possibly hindering trafic..

If this was that *other* forum, you'd already have been sent a "sternly worded memo" about driving like that on public thoroughfares. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> ... and guilt / shamed publicly.

Yes you should be ashamed of yourself. If you had the new splitter you probably wouldn't have been so limited!

Frankly, I'm appalled that you used this website to publicly announce that you used clear public roads to exceed 130 MPH...

I thought top speed of a 968 is 156 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

156 mph unmodified, that is.. I've gone a bit beyond that on more than a couple of occasions .. but yeah, for the record ( an officially with the purpose of this website..) none of that speed was done on "public" roads . it was on an abandoned airport runway strip not too far from my house... yeah, that's my statement. and re the 130 mph I mentioned in the original post , I wrote "highway" for lack of better terminology, what I meant was that same air strip, which just happened to have a police car stopping somone else that decided to use it without proper clearance that day..

Jake, that's easy ; buy a house next to one .. :-) Reminds me of the DOT statistic which indicated the majority of accidents happen within three miles of the driver's own home. Soon as I read that, to avoid the risk, I moved to a different town ! :-) ;-)
