Out for a drive
#1

With temps at 10.5C today, and pouring rain, I decided to take the white coupe out for a little drive. Drove about 420 km (let's see, at 420 km/2 days @ 365 days/year that will equal 76,650 km/yr). Had fun, no surprises. now, back to the storage dungeon for another two months.

Think I'll take the 968 out for a drive today also, in what what we here in Ca call "freezing" temperatures ( anything below 70 F ) . These cars run sooo much better in cold air. :-). Btw, I hear L.A. will be above 80 today, so all of you guys with ragtops down there, it's time for a PCH drive ! 80s in January...sheesh, and people wonder why you can't even find 800 sq ft condos in these parts under half mil, in spite of the most depressed real estate market in decades..

I was fortunate enough yesterday to not only get out for a drive but washed the car. As my granddaughter would say, it was yucky, such is the color white. All of this happened before it started to rain like the dickens. Wonder where that term came from? Today nice day but I knew snow showers would wetten, is that a word, the road and thought better of it. Driving on Jan 1 is almost dreamlike! You poor 968 ers with that west coast weather!

Saturday, Dec 31st, I was able to go out for a 40 mile drive! It has been dry here for a few days, so it was an opportunity that i could not pass up on. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Mike and I did our SD fun run route on Xmas morning. No traffic - very nice. The top was down. Went into the city with the SO yesterday. On the way home in the dark and cool temps she said "this is much less desirable when the sun isn't out" I had to chuckle. Turned up the heat and life was good.

Although Scotland has been un-seasonably mild recently the roads are still skitey, the back end has gave me a few warnings recently to throttle back. Which I did!

Quote:... the roads are still skitey,...

I hate it when that happens.

Today I had an angry Mother ask me if I was educated? Never asked that one! But pray tell Andy, apart from context, just exactly does skitey mean? Inquiring minds want to know.

skitey <adj.> pron. "sky-tee"

Slippery. A dodgy person. Common in Scotland.

"He's a skitey wee thing." "Serves you right for being skitey". "I don't wish to sound skitey, but ..." "She is a skitey eyed cow."

In the context of the weather, in place of slippery, you might say "watch out outside, its a bit skitey".

Can you imagine, Jan 7, 56 degrees and tooling around with my hot rod chicks. Course the car got muddy because the road melted but small price to pay! Just lovin it.
