Thanks for the responses and feedback. I am thinking about the return springs on the e-brake as
the likely culprit. Thanks Bob for that feedback- The p/o had the d/s rear wheel bearing replaced, but
not the p/s
But, I have not yet pulled the rotor off and taken a peek in there yet, so it could be any one of
a number of things, like the CV joint. The noise did not change when I did a tight turn, and I
did one 180 degree bender intentionally to load up that side to see what happened - so far, nothing...
I'll be driving the '87 944 until I get this sorted out. I have learned from experience (on that car) that if those springs cut loose, and the e-brake locks up while you are going, say, 45 mph, then <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Replacing
a control arm (which I bent) and bearing is a BIG DRAG!
