Strosek Front Splitter/Spoiler
#1

I know that one or more of our members have the Strosek front Spoiler/Splitter on their 968's...

I have a couple of questions specifically about the Strosek units...

1. What is the overall opion on these? Good, Bad, or indifferent?

2. How do they hold up to the occasional contact with parking dividers?

3. Do they install easily, or take a lot of "fiddling" to match up to the old batwing (front apron) location...

4. Are there any other Splitters available that are bolt ons for our cars?

5. Strosek has quoted me $771.00 shipped to my door, and three weeks delivery... does this sound like a fair price?

Of course it has to come all the way from Germany... I hope they pack it well!

Any otherr comments? Thanks

from the looks of it, it is much like the one i have on my car now. the wrap-around design, eliminating the front apron, has proven to be the key to survivability. it has withstood multiple impacts at speed (at least a half dozen on the last paso robles fun run).

installation required drilling, as does the strosek.

true bolt on is currently limited to the polyurethane porsche motorsport unit, available at carnewal-europe. cost is about $500.

i am just about to pull mine so i can have the mold made and replicate it, as it is a one-off unit. winter project though, and won't be done before the end of the year. anticipating retail price to be about half that of the strosek, but i'll know more when i get the mold made.

Darth-

I have a Strosek front splitter, not installed.

1) Looks like a very nice piece. Happy I bought it.

2) Dunno - not installed yet.

3) This is relative. Since I haven't tried to install it yet, I really can't lend any info. As long as the mold was good and everything lines up well, it should be a simple install.

4) See previous post.

5) That is a fair price for delivery to the door. I paid less than that 3 years ago, but I had to go to a nearby (not really!) holding facility to get it and pay duty. All tolled, I think I was in for around $600-$650. It was packed well.

I like the looks of it installed in Strosek's photos, moreso than the Porsche Motorsport unit.

One final note- instructions, as will many aftermarket Germany items, leave a bit to be desired.

Great info, folks! I really appreciate it!

As to mounting the Spoiler, I can handle removal of the batwing (front apron) (been there, done that)... From there, I am guessing that it is a matter of getting out the Visegrip Clamp pliers, and fitting and lining up and refitting and more lining up and drilling and so forth... probably have to secure my own fasteners unless they send a bunch with the spoiler....

I agree that they look the best of any I have seen...BTW, Biotechee; if you decide now that you aren't going to use the Spoiler, I will take it off your hands for the $650.00 price.

Have you had it painted yet? If not that would be a plus... I am trying to decide whether to go with body color or semi gloss black to match my rear spoiler....

Currently not selling it Darth. It is unpainted. I would be inclined to try the semi gloss black first...

If I end up selling the cab, the splitter will be up for sale. But, I'll be taking the winter months to decide the cab's fate.

Yep, Semi-gloss black is my choice! I would really like to have it done in a carbon fibre look, but the paint would cost twice the price of the spoiler!!!

No problem on holding on to the Spoiler for now... I am heading south and won't get to work on the 968 until next year in any case... too cold in the garage to lay on concrete and mess with fitting fiddley things!

Maybe we can discuss further next Spring! No hurry... these decisions take some time. Thanks for considering it!
