ABS Switch
#1

I just wanted to pass on how easy it is to add an ABS switch.

History:

I faulted my ABS going over rumble strips on the track. I saw the light come on, but I didn't really know what to make of it. In the next brake zone, the brakes were whack and I locked a rear wheel, putting me into the wall. I don't want to do that again! Normally the fault can only be cleared by cycling the ignition but with a switch you can cycle the ABS on the fly. You can also just turn off the ABS, if you so inclined. If you have presence of mind, you can turn off the ABS if you are spinning backwards too.

All you do is:

-Find the ABS relay on the fuse panel. It is the one in the passenger rear corner. The legend on the cover will show you which one.

-Unscrew the 2 fasteners holding the panel down. Pull the panel up a few inches.

-You should see a Black/Green wire going to the ABS relay. Blk/Grn goes to the central electric.

-Cut this wire and splice in wires going to a switch mounted somewhere on the dash. Done.

My Rothmans Turbo Cup had this as standard. They used an OE rocker switch in one of the blanks by mirror switches. It works for both recycling ABS and when flying off backwards to lock all brakes.

My Firehawk has one wired in but ABS light stays on on startup. I will check wiring via Erik

Thanks,

Pete
