Heavily pulsating ABS

Racing an E 36 BMW M3 last weekend was an eyeopener in terms of ABS performance. It was all very smooth while my 968 pulsates heavilly under hard breaking. Question is if this is my car, the 968 in general or an effect of the Big reds up forward.

I know some are of the opinion that you should avoid the ABS threshold, others say "let ABS do the job". I rather like the latter so if there is way towards smoother ABS operation that is interresting.

My ABS pulsates much more than modern cars I have driven too and I have standard brakes. Presume its just a function of the 968 ABS being dated and I don't try to avoid it.

I've been told by my pad manufacturer that if you stay out of ABS, the pads will last longer. Apparently the pads are not designed for the kind of abuse they are subjected to under ABS. Having said that, I typically do get mildly into ABS at track events (a couple of pulses every now and then) and my pads seem to be lasting as I would expect. I get about 6 track days per set.

Can't comment on the ABS in regards to 968 vs M3. However, our brakes in stock form are better then E36 M3 brakes in regards to brake fade. stopping distances are very similiar. M3's have single piston floating caliper. The brakes heat up and warp quicker. Our cars have 4-piston calipers.

A really common modification you'll find with the E36 m3 crowd is swapping the calipers to 4 piston and the rotors to eurospec floating discs.
