Colors are very subjective , but I'd be interested to learn what color sells the most ( not just 968s ) but overall - must be some statistics on this topic out there ?!

while white doesn't get me excited, i can certainly appreciate the appeal.  i have had many white cars.  they are very easy to keep clean, hide flaws, and don't fade as easily in the sun.  that being said, white is one of the hardest colors to paint match.

As long as you don't paint-to- match the wheels color and make the car look like an M&M ( to borrow flash's analogy ), it's all good. Ok, maybe not that pea-soup / army / forest green color I saw once on a 968 at a Rennsport Laguna Seca race meet. I think the color of the projectile vomit I left near the car after seeing it was a bit more tolerable than the car color itself . IMHO

On a completely unrelated topic that I bring up here only because I can't find any other way, I've noticed that I am shut out from posting to many of the discussion threads.   There is a light gray box in which is written "You cannot reply to this topic".   I have sent a message to the site administration 3 or 4 times regarding this problem, but have not received any response.  HELP!

More than $ 1 Mil. dollars for a 356, and $ 93,000 for a 4 cylinder 914 !!   I'd have a hard time grasping even a rare 914-6 going for that much, but a basic matchbox 914 ?  

My new  " on sale now, before it's too late " price for the blue six speed 968 is now set at a firm  $ 500,000 reserve .        You can still have the green  ( tip ) one for $ 20 k though..  :glare:

That would depend on the country or region and has, amongst other things (like culture?) I presume, to do with the climate. In cold and rainy countries darker/colder colours (blue, grey, black, silver,...) would be more popular, in sunnier countries warm colours like red, yellow, bright green, sky blue, etc are more 'accepted'.


At least that's what I read in an article. Makes sense to me too.

I am not surprised that white was #1 across the board.  Porsche uses the color Ivory, which looks elegant on any model from the 356 on, IMO.

Is there a registry for the surviving North American 968 cars ?

Despite having more coupes sold on this continent, they seem to be scarcer than the cabriolets.

I often check on Ebay, which usually offers from 5 to 10, yet there are always very few coupes.  

Can anyone explain this ?  Here is a link to production numbers:

Injured and retired. Mine was repurposed. It lives on in all its glorious splendor as a part here and a base there. The backup team is always ready to come into the game. It would be nice to know how many of us are left overall. We just had a guy come on board here from my area that I had no idea existed. Other than a buddy,who is not a Forum member, I rarely see them at the track although there are still club racers who use them. Boxsters are the new 944 because they are relatively inexpensive and parts are readily available.

Since there is no data on this it's pure speculation but what percentage of 968 coupes produced would you guys say have ever been or are being tracked ? I'd guess between 5 % and 10 % max. As for regular / dedicated tracking I'd venture to guess no more than 2% ..? Of course I could be waaaaay off base , but it's just a wild guess ..
