968 Turbo
#1

Was the 968 Turbo ever sold in the US? was carefully looking at the super touring rules for SCCA and I can only use a turbo if a turbo model was sold in the US.

Wikipedia says only Europe...

Cheers

Only in Europe. You could buy one, and import it. Never shipped em here from the factory though. Maybe Jeff has more info on them. Theyre my favortie Porsche ever.

never here - importing here never allowed for street use, therefore no ability to register for street, which is the line for SCCA - sorry - i'm pretty sure you're screwed

Does the car have to have been imported - or simply available for sale in the market? The 968 Turbo RS was available (if someone wanted to buy one), same for the 968 Turbo S

There has been cars brought to the USA since they were built (I am assuming)?

How does this sit with a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - it is technically not imported by Porsche - it is purchased and shipped from the factory as it is not a homologated car for the market (road registerable).

Same for a Porsche 964 RS - this was not imported into the USA - there was a 964 RS (USA) which is a different beast to a ROW car. 944 Turbo Cup, 964 Cup, 993 GT2 Cup, etc.

Interesting topic given the number of European specific models of the 1980's.

Yep think no deal on a turbo but the ptb say that a supercharger would be reviewed on a case by case basis!

Think the turbonator is an electric fan before the throttle body And don't believe that unit is bought unless PIMP is part of the race program!

Note that this fitment is for a 1992 PORSCHE 944. Very rare car...

I need to find me some of those space-age "zero friction bearings". [Image: laugh.gif]

Quote:Introducing the Surge Intake SuperCharger, it revolutionized the Japanese tuner performance market and is now for the first time available to the US market in limited supply. This product will allow you to burn fuel more efficiently resulting in better MPG. This SuperCharger will increase air flow and provide additional horse power and torque by 5-7% to the wheels.

With all these upgrades being thrown around it is important to make sure you do the proper preventative maintanance on the muffler bearing if you upgrade to the cargraphic mufflers and add a canooter valve if any 12V electric forced induction is to be used.

Just sayin.
