I hurts me to say it but those BMWs just dominate in so many classes. It's a smart money car. s***, I have to admit that a freakin' Miata is a smart money car and dominant in a zillion classes.

But none have the panache of a Porsche 968 - that's why I drive and race Porsches. (But I've owned 3 E30s, 2 E36s, 1 740iL - they are good cars)

Current stable is

968

Boxster

Mercedes S55 AMG - supercharged yaght

F350 V10

Chevy Tahoe

Motorhome

Thinking about next projects: (not selling the 968 for a long time)

E46 M3

Boxster S

C6 Vette

Awesome race Erik! Congrats on the win! The Turbo is sick when it starts pulling... And yes, that track looks beautiful very nice but egregiously insane with all them trees and no protection in a few key areas...

I have been thinking of a next project to serve as limited daily driver and weekend track rat (for my significant other mainly.... yeah right!). So I have been seriously considering an e46 M3 SMG. Currently my 1st choice. Would love to buy a Cayman S PDK, but having just bought a house its is hard to justify...

Anyway Erik, great driving!

Cheers,

Hi - i am lucky enough to own a fairly quick 968CS, and an BMW e46 M3 SMG individual too. Have also driven a fairly modded e46 M3 track car around Bathurst Circuit club racing, and it was back to back with my Porsche.

They are chalk and cheese. The M3 has a stunning engine. It is a much faster more powerful car, and that engine does offset the weight it carries on the straights, so i think the m3 eats the 968 in a straight line with both being in stockish NA form.

That however leads to weight. Unless the m3 has been stripped, it is a beautiful road sports car, not a track car. It feels so so heavy on the track- like a barge relative to the Porsche on corners. I am impressed how fast lap times can be in it given its girth. Then again a dozen or more speakers, tv etc will do that. The Porsche by comparison is wonderful on the track into, through and out of all the bends and monsters the M3 there.

Great vid and driving. A good mate and i race in an almost identical fashion, he in his M3, and love the fun lap after lap. He's yet to get me though....go the 968!!!

Thanks for sharing that vid Erik.
