968 stainless sill plates

Sounds great, I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

What would you all say to a matching set of sills and plastic trim covers for the door edge? A custom look or over-the-top pimpy?

a long time ago, i saw a set of stainless sill covers to replace the plastic ones. those looked good, and fit a lot better than the ones linked above, but indeed were a bit blingy. i almost bought them, but by the time i decided to do it, they were no longer available.

Hell I'm still waiting for flash to produce the D1R curb feelers and nothing yet ! What, 'dem Porsche wheels are expensive to have the the curb rash resurfaced :-) :-)

Great idea! I like curb feelers, but I learned you can't run them on British cars because there's no way to make a curb feeler leak oil.

Maybe no oil leak but you can bet the lights will go out on them!

getting close. just working out the best way for the black portion. the issue is having it be both stainless and black on part of it. i can't sandblast it and have the stainless look good. i can't clean it to get the oil off without fisheyes. i may have to go vinyl for the black part, unless i wanted the whole thing black, except for the etched numbers.

film at 11.

Hmmm, all black with sandblasted numbers might look kind of cool.

What about punching out the numbers so the background paint could show through? Just a thought, but it could create issues as well.

Thanks again for running with this. Lots of us want them, but we want good ones and it sounds like these will be awesome.

no chance of punching it out. way too nutty trying to get a clean cut with a laser, and watter-jetting would be too expensive.

if i can't get the black area to come out right, which would allow me to make just one type, and i have no reason to suspect that i can't, i'll probably have to offer 2 types, one all black with etched numbers, and one just stainless with etched numbers.

i'm really close to confirming the pricing. i need to source out the adhesive tape, and firm up the numbers of each step. i have estimates, but until i show a drawing and a pic to a couple of them, that's as far as i have. so far so good though, and i'm on track. i meet with the sheet metal shop tomorrow morning. i'll then send some info to the powder coater and the etcher, so i can get firm numbers from them.
