Conduit trim above sill plate
#1
Here's a photo of the wheel in my car: looks pretty nice to me...

I already have alum 968 sill plates but I would like to find the conduit piece above that is shown in this previous post. Problem is I am not sure what to call them when surfing. These look much nicers than the black plastic stock items.

Anyone hazzard a guess?

DaveN,

The wheel looks great. Glad you added the crest.

If you get a rubbing sound when you turn the wheel, trim the feet down an 1/8th on the OEM plastic just under the wheel.

That's not my car, I quoted it from a previous message. He had the alum trim piece at the door sill though that I wanted to find.

Dave,

Got it. Those plates do look nice. I have the stainless sill plates that have a black "968" on them.

Got it, the white exterior should have been my first hint!

Porsche calls those pieces "scuff plates". Now to track them down, I have all winter

Part of the million winter upgrades includes all new speakers and sub. I have pulled 2-4.5" and 2-6.25" Nokia speakers from the car. They are in perfect condition if anyone wants them, just the price of shipping.

I've had a good trawl around the net for these scuff plates but to no avail.

Has anyone seen them for sale anywhere?

I've had an eye open for them since I first saw the picture of John Eitner's car several years ago. According to John, they were offered for the 944 at one time. They are out of production and stocks appear to have been exhausted for many years thus they are very rare. If you do find a crate full of them, post here and give the rest of us a chance at them!

Talked to (probably) the largest Porsche parts supplier in Canada, www.nineapart.com, and when he looked that the picture he said he had never seen those before.

Flash, I know it is not a performance upgrade, but I'll bet you could sell 100 or more sets if you "sourced" these! (hint - hint)

Those are nice, but if made in aluminum, I would think they will take a good beating and not look so nice a year down the line.

If made from stainless, I would love a set.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing in bed last night. "I wonder if I could make these, I could probably sell a few sets". I got stumped on the copyright though, I would want mine acid etched to say Porsche.

the font is carefully controlled - porsche is very ready and willing to sue people over this - Boothe Designs was nearly put out of business over something like that - harvey is very careful not to publish or sell his threshold plates publicly for the same reasons

you could make a new piece, but i would shy away from the font - do something similar, but not the same

Porsche is indeed quite serious. I am working on a Porsche getaway for 2011 and we are quite careful about signage and what we are saying in our tag lines and branding of the event.
