Just had Belts, Rollers and Pump done and now alight whine?
#1

Better to be safe then sorry but they old ones all look as good as new. With only 18k on the car I did not want to take a chance.

Now the question is there is a slight whine upon acceleration that wasn't there with the old belts. Seems like it is less then it was even yesterday. They said it normal and should be fine.

Thoughts?

Same thing with me. My son's '92 which was done by a different mechanic doesn't exhibit the same. Just needs to break in? Your thoughts appreciated!

That would be your balance shaft belt, it should have a little whine to it, especially being new. It will need to be re-tensioned again at about 1000 miles after it has stretched.

I had my balance shaft belt done and had the same whining sound. It goes away in a few hundred miles. Then you'll be able to hear all the other noises that shouldn't be there!

The later -wider balance belts are a bit noisy at first. If adjusted properly this goes away within a few hundred miles. I've found balance belt needs to be re-adjusted closer to 1500-2000 miles.

My balance belts have always had a little whine, even after retensioning.
