968 Celebration at Hershey 2010
#21

at #3 i would think you've got it down by now - the kid will be 6 weeks old - you can't slip away for a quick day trip?

lol - was it just my parents that had baby sitters (the grandparents) watch us when we were a month old?

Kim I agree with stewhatch it would be easier to travel down 401 to either the Prescott or Thousand Island bridges and then down 81 to the Hershey area. I'll be heading down from Ottawa and we could meet and drive together like we planned to do last year.

I don't know what time schedule you'll be on, but my route from Monticello Motor Club to Hershey puts me on I-81 in Scranton. Maybe we can work something out.

I'm 30-45 mins south of Scranton. I'd be willing to drive up and meet everyone at an easy-to-find rendezvous point off 81 near Scranton early Saturday morning. I will probably have a few more buddies join us a little farther down 81 just south of Wilkes-Barre (914, 924S, 944, 968, my 968 and a 930) where Rte 80 and 81 intersect. Heck, if we get a few more people we could own our own lane for the last leg of the trip to Hershey. I realize it could be difficult to have everyone meet around the same time, but it's worth a try. Kim - you up for this? I realize you'll be driving an inordinate # of miles and if this works for you I could suggest a place in Gananoque where you could overnight Friday. It's very close to the US / Canada border - about 4 hrs from Scranton PA.

The planning has begun.

The Boss say yes but Mama say no
Make up your mind 'cause I gotta go.
Flash addin' posts like a Union Hall
Drive that Forum right up the wall.
Some comin' in through old DC
but goin' through Canada's the way for me.

Ying, yang, it's my thing
Motor's going, let me hear her sing.
In the seat, let me sit down low
Down the 401 to the show we'll go.

Mr President, Mr Immigration Man
Let me in Sweetie, to your fair land.
Down to Hershey City, just a short quick cruise
With some brand new parts and some weight to lose.
Gonna spin those tires, gonna get down low
Gotta start my starter, gotta stop the show.

Oh yeah!
Oh yeah.

Gonna see Jay and Mr Cosimo
Stayin' on the road, don't want no tow.
Keep it smoking hot and above 4 bar
Oil smellin' sweet - like caviar.
Like Sammy said "don't you touch my groove"
Lay the pedal down, hope the road is smooth.

Oh yeah!

Cross the river, Baby, and don't be late
With the Forums crowd we got this date.
Heading down the road, and watch for signs
See all the cars dressed to the 9s.
Gonna roll this joint, gonna get down low
Turn on the tunes and away we go.

Think of all the folks we'll see
And the Barn might hold my sh*t for me.

I can't believe how well this is all coming together!

Darryl has already set up a tentative route for the fun run. We are going to test it out so we can make sure that everyone has a great time.

Jim is going to lead the parade into the Swap Meet, and Kathy throws an awesome party.

Saturday night dinner looks to be really special and we are taking over Fenicci's private veranda. We are hoping to have 2 special guest speakers this year, talking about all the new projects.

I am stoked to see Flash in his SUPERCHARGED 968, and Kim, our Canadian troubador. I'm proud that we can attract participants from such a distance.

968Forums is the place for all things Hershey this year, don't forget to bring your sunshades! REPRESENT!

No Stew not this year. But I still have a few things for you.
Please send me a PM a few days before the event to remind me.

Jay, from the what I'm seeing, I think you guys are going to have the best 968 celebration ever.
If you guys need anything at all, just ask.

It is great to see that an 8th 968 Celebration will happen at the Hershey Swap Meet again. When I stepped down as Host last year, after hosting 7 968 Celebrations in Hershey (2001-2004, 2007-2009), I was not sure whether there would be a 2010 Celebration in Hershey. But thanks to Jeff, Jim, Jay, Darryl and Kathy it looks like party time again for 968 lovers.

I look forward to participating in the new format for the event this year and seeing many of the 120 968 owners who have attended the Hershey event over the years, plus those who attended Cosimo's event in 2005 and Jay and Pete's event in 2006). I also look forward to seeing our 968 Caravan - but this time from the rear - lol!

i'm already preparing for this

i've been working on the denali, adding new fog lights and such, and the rear wind deflector just arrived today - the heat shield goes on next week

the trailer will get its revamp beginning late next week too, with the new stereo install, artwork, battery install, winch, yada yada

the 968 of course will be completing its steroidal infusion as all of this is going on

fun stuff

News Flash !!!

Ivan Arzola of IMA Motorsports has agreed to be a guest speaker at the Saturday evening banquet.

Some of you may remember Ivan from the 2005 Celebration in Great Fall Virginia and his stunning GT2.

Ivan is turning his attention on 968s by developing a single turbo package for our cars.

Can't wait to hear his views on getting more out of this car.

Regards,

Jay
