If someone can come up with the appropriate mounting hardware and body counter clear cover, I'm ready to do this. Great find, Jake.

and the old fender is now in my garage - i don't want to cut it, or harm it, but it is available for a while to use to see if a conversion can be done - then i am selling it because the dent is VERY repairable - i just didn't want any bondo on my car

[quote name='Anchorman' date='Mar 24 2005, 08:19 AM']IMHO [the pop-up headlights] make the car go from elegant, clean lines to Kermit.

Anchorman that is so hilariously accurate !

This mod is a real tempter. Another benefit might be worth while weight reduction for us diet junkies. Does anyone know how much Kermits eyes weigh, including lift mechanisms?

This whole Kermit bit brought a big smile to my face.

At least we should take a splash of the opening and surrounding fender area.

sure - whatever - if it wasn't so easy to bang it out, i'd feel differently - somebody that doesn't want to spend the money on a new one, and has a badly dented one, will walk away happy here for very little, if they are wiling to spend about 2 hrs on it

Below is a picture of the strosek cateyes which Van Zweeden sell.

I know they look horrible, but wonder if we could coat them in silver, put the litronics unit in them then put a clear lense over the top - if nothing else it might work as a proto-type? They fit the standard 968 opening with no modification. They also sell the lights to fit these but i don't know what the spec is.

When it comes to fixed headlights, it seems like this outfit (Ark Tech) already has something. See link below (hope it works; haven't tried this on this site before

My Webpage

As you can see (if it went through), this mod uses 993 headlights. I you ignore the hideous spoiler and the strange color, these fenders and headlights are drop-dead gorgeous. I can't imagine a more perfect headlight mod for the 968. I don't know anything about Ark Tech (a google search turned up nothing), or if they are even still in business, but they're proven a 993 fixed headlight conversion can be done, so, with all due respect to those who have tried, why even mess around with non-Porsche headlights? There's probably enough interest in this mod that I would think that somebody like RS Barn, Powerworks, or Van Zweden could be persuaded to duplicate what Ark Tech has done.

Well, the picture of the Ark Tech fender/993 headlight mod did make it, but you have to scroll down to the sixth response to the thread. In the discussion, some people mentioned that the price of the Ark Tech fender mod was very high, but I didn't see any reference to it.

The Arktech web site has been down for a long time. My guess is they are out of the business.....

They are still in business as they are running the 968 GT4 and a 996 GTR in the Super GT championship. I was watching it the other day and the 968 caught fire in the pits and the GT3 crashed

- i emailed they last year re the cost of the mod but got no response
